Berry World

I'm a senior business woman constantly learning and striving to improve and increase our exposure to tourism and locals alike. Originally from Western Australia, I love living and working in Timboon.

Gascom (AU) Pty Ltd

Berry World has existed as a commercial and 'pick your own' strawberry and blackberry farm for 58 years. We purchased it from original owners, Joy and Alan Kerr in 2014. During our tenure we have added the Berry Good Thai restaurant (run by 2 Thai national chefs & 1 Thai cook) and Berry Good Accommodation for holiday makers. In addition, we have 2 ponies, 3 pet sheep and some chickens. Kids (and parents) love to feed the animals as well as run, play and pick strawberries. We also grow veges for the restaurant and have added an orchard of apples, nashis, pears, cherries and raspberries.

Distinguished and Famous people from Nimbin

🤝 Diana Roberts

Diana Roberts received the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2024 for service to Nimbin. Her involvement included co-founding the community centre and environment centre, serving on Lismore City Council, volunteering in recycling and bushfire organisations, and supporting the chamber of commerce. She also operated the Nimbin Apothecary for many years. The official honour records a contribution spread across practical institutions rather than one public project. Nimbin’s alternative reputation depended in part on people prepared to attend meetings, organise services and keep shared places functioning; Roberts’ long record gives that work a recognisable face.

🎤 David Hallett

David Hallett has been a familiar voice in Nimbin’s performance-poetry life, combining verse with satire, comedy and social observation. His work has travelled through schools, festivals and major venues, while his local and regional involvement helped keep poetry an event people could attend and hear. Awards have included the Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup and recognition at Sydney and Byron writers’ festivals. The contribution belongs to the spoken as well as printed word: timing, a live audience and a pointed turn of phrase form part of the craft. Nimbin provides a sustained cultural setting within that wider performing career.
